Pastor Ted Haggard gets a national mention in this article about Colorado Springs from Harpers. From the article, "Colorado Springs is a city of moral fabulousness. It is a city of fables."
Thanks to Ed Cone for the link.
Here's the Coyote Gulch post from back when they introduced Amendment 43.
Update: Colorado Confidential has an email from 9News explaining why they went with the story, and they also try to change the subject, "The decision to run this story at this time was complicated by the upcoming election, but was not made because of it. 9NEWS has spent countless hours covering the upcoming election we've sponsored debates, run extensive 'Truth Tests' on political advertising and written extensively on the proposed amendments, referendums and candidates for public office on the Decision 2006 page on www.9news.com."

Rocky Mountain News: "A sharp drop in support for the minimum-wage ballot issue has put the measure in the 'danger zone' of not passing. Just 53 percent of recent respondents said they'd vote for Amendment 42, which would raise the minimum wage to $6.85 and then increase it annually by inflation, as measured by the Denver-Boulder-Greeley Consumer Price Index. The 'yes' vote is down from 74 percent support in a mid-September poll, where it scored the highest positives among anything on the ballot. In the new poll, 42 percent said they'd vote 'no,' up from 20 percent in September."

According to a recent Rocky Mountain News/CBS4 poll support for Referendum I has dropped below 50%. From the article, "Forty-seven percent of respondents said they approve of Ref I, while 49 percent disapprove, according to the Rocky Mountain News/CBS 4 poll by Public Opinion Strategies. A similar poll for the News and CBS 4 in early September showed 58 percent in support of Ref I and 38 percent against. Weigel said recent attack ads by Ref I opponents have contributed to the decline. Views on Amendment 43 remained stable. Fifty-three percent of respondents said they would vote yes and 43 percent said no. Those numbers are virtually the same as in the September poll."
