Bush Touts Public Service to Grads (washingtonpost.com)
Bush was invited to speak at the Ohio State commencement by representatives of the graduating class. But immediately before class members filed into the giant football stadium, an announcer instructed the crowd that all the university's speakers deserve to be treated with respect and that anyone demonstrating or heckling would be subject to expulsion and arrest. The announcer urged that Bush be greeted with a "thunderous" ovation.

So, it is true. In part. While I think OSU was way too heavy handed in demanding respect (personally, I do feel that the President deserves respect, I was very angry at a friend of mine who, when graduating from Dartmouth refused to shake hands with Bill Clinton) the University, as a private institution can make such rules if it wants (and people are welcome to challenge them in court if they so desire). It is quite another thing if the police attempt to enforce these rules as they are agents of the state.  9:58:35 PM  permalink

Democratic Underground Forums - Ohio State fascism - What happened today
We never got to see how many students participated. We were being led out of Ohio Stadium. To the officers' credit, he realized there was a 3-year-old in my arms and was not at all hostile. I asked him if I was under arrest, and he did not answer me. When we reached the exit, I asked the SS man why we had been ejected, and he told me we were being charged with disturbing the peace. If we chose to leave, the charges would be dropped immediately.

Can this possibly be true? I find this very hard to believe. But if it is true, things are much worse than I thought they where. Any other links to this?   9:25:35 PM  permalink

Web design 'causes confusion'

In a study at Kansas State University in the United States, surfers were asked to look through a website and then draw a diagram of how the site was organised.

Most of the resulting drawings were inaccurate, grouping together similar bits of information rather than reflecting the real layout of the site.
