ATAT on what Steve Ballmer and Bill Gates are really saying about proposed remedies for Micro$oft: "But your honor, how am I possibly going to keep mugging old ladies if I'm locked away in prison?!"
And I know it's probably not the best idea to get my news from a soap opera, but this is the first I'd heard that the nine states who refused to settle are now proposing that Micro$oft "develop and ship Office for Linux, and ... license out the source code to Internet Explorer." Now we're getting somewhere. How beautiful would it be to watch M$ pummelled by competitors selling better versions of IE (like versions for OS X w/fully wizzy editors either built right in, or w/APIs to make integration between browser and content production seamless and one-click-like)? There would be something I could call "justice" in that, I think. 8:23:40 AM
