What My Garage Does Now (and Doesn't)

I thought I'd do a little brainstorming, inspired by a not-so-fruitful visit to http://UltimateGarage.com (too gear-head oriented for this handy-challanged dude, at first glance). Jeff F. is much more gear-headed than I, so the link choice is not surprising...either is his choice of fish (great time at Bud World last night, BTW).

Anyway, a new garage may be within reach, so I thought I'd try and prepare...

The Current Garage Contains:

  • Pantry
  • Washer, Dryer
  • Extra Fridge and Freezer.
  • Utility Sink, Hot / Cold Water.
  • Water Heater.
  • Garage Door Opener.
  • Luggage
  • Tools
  • Coolers
  • Security
  • Cleaning supplies (brooms, mops, soap, etc.)
  • Ping-pong table
  • Bikes
  • Camping gear (backpacks, stoves, lights, utensils, etc.)

The Current Garage Does Not Contain:

  • Cars

I now realize that, and this is important to my real work life, that in addition to an as-is of the garge, I need to provide the to-be. And the new garage won't have to do the same things the old one does...the washer/dryer come to mind. So...

    The New Garage Shall Contain:

  • Cars. Hopefully the lovable Van included. Will have to measure soon.
  • Nothing that needs to be really handy from the house. The new one may be detacted. Never thought about that before.
  • Pantry. Maybe not depending on kitchen. But probably somestuff in this bulk-shop-stuff-your-house era.
  • Extra Fridge and Freezer. Don't know.
  • Utility Sink, Hot / Cold Water. Yes. Very handy to have a sink in the garage. Especially for brewing beer. Um...beer...
  • Water Heater. Don't know where this is, but I think I saw it in the house somewhere.
  • Garage Door Opener
  • Luggage
  • Tools
  • Coolers
  • Security
  • Cleaning supplies (brooms, mops, soap, etc.)
  • Ping-pong table. Depends on back-yard storage. Another really needed thing.
  • Bikes. Again, maybe something that goes in a back-yard storage area.
  • Camping gear (backpacks, stoves, lights, utensils, etc.)

    Happy Sunday.

  • L.A. BlogBashApalooza at the Algonguin Hotel West

Doc links to more of the party glow recap. I always love that post party reminicance thing. And Dave seemed to have made a good impression on the rest of the party.

"Doc Searls, Ann Salisbury and Charles Johnson (you can see the smart lady went to get a smoke*). Doc's real name is Dave. He's even nicer in real life then you would have guessed. I've decided that Ann is just faking what she writes in her blog. She has the feel of positive energy and a great passion for good government. And yet -- Gray Davis! She must be putting us on. Charles Johnson has forgotten more cool music stories than I've ever known. I enjoyed listening him talk music with Doc. I couldn't improve on the silence so I just listened."

Lot of pictures of the party. And check out Charles Johnson's shirt. Jazz. Does he blog jazz?

I flash on the Algonguin Round Table as I follow the tale of L.A. Blogapalooza II.
