MacLeod's Truth and Beauty |
A trip through BlogShares (just to look - I don't play) lead me to click on their sponsor ad for GapingVoid.
Wow - not only are this guy's cartoons (mostly) entertaining, but the artist, Manhattanite Hugh MacLeod, has hit on the ideal NYC medium. He draws a nervous, yet minimalist sketch on the back of a business card, usually accompanied with an ascerbic one liner. Then - and this is the real genius - prices the original at the perfectly balanced $99! Like I said - Wow!
I am so impressed by this project, I'm gonna copy it right now! I'll file off the serial numbers later, but here's my own collection of Post-It™ notes that accumulate around my desk:

What d'ya think - 98 bucks? No - not 97! It's gotta be 98!
This photograph was made with film and paper. All of the colors and optical effects were made with optical devices and chemicals, rather than digitally using a ccd camera and Photoshop, as were eleven of the photographs below.
Well, actually I did use Photoshop, but in a manner that restored scans of the prints to close to their original look.
Scenes from the surface of Venus Phoenix.
It was a strange night.
