Issa, Riordan, and now Arianna Huffington (of the old Bill Mahr show) join the group of other, less known, loonies in declaring for the California hostile takeover.

Now if only birthday boy Arnold Schwarzenegger would jump in, the race might be interesting. Ahnald, ve neeed you!

Archicect Irving Gill created the minimalistic, box and arch design that defines Southern California style.

The Oceanside Museum of Art was devoted to an exhibit of Gill designs, blueprints, photographs and artifacts. Most of his California work was done in LA county where they have subsequently been knocked down. However, some of his best and most famous designs are in north San Diego county. Look at my own exhibit of Gill's Oceanside buildings, some of which are not represented in the Museum's show.

By the way, I think this tiny doorway in the Americanization School might be an entrance to hell ...

As Kara points out, the planet Mercury is especially elusive due to it's proximity to the sun.

The last time I saw the planet, nine years ago, through the Schwar telescope, I drew it. On the same page I drew spectra of the triasterism, The Bull of Poniatowski, which includes the star 70 Ophiuchi:

The fourth magnitude star in the '13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus, is only 16 light years from earth and, according to its spectrum, has close to half the luminosity of the sun. If a suitable planet were about the same size and distance from the primary as Venus, well, that planet could hold an atmosphere and liquid water...
