MacInTouch: From an interview between a MacinTouch reader and a chief engineering manager at IBM:
IBM is really betting the future on Linux. They see it becoming the one 'universal' Unix (which has never happened with previous Unixes). Even though their AIX OS is far more mature than Linux (as are most Unixes), they are transitioning a lot of AIX technology into Linux to make it more stable, reliable, and scalable. All of this work is being done open source, so the entire Linux community will benefit.
