As a person who has tried to analyzed events surrounding me in a somewhat objective manner, I feel obliged to say today seem like a, costly, victory for the opposition, and the, louder than usual, pot banging noise seem to confirm that (how can people that marched all day, fought the GN all afternoon still have the strength to do this is beyond me...). If the march had arrived and hand its stupid letter to the G15, a lot less international noise would have ensued...

What a laugh! It turns out that the Venezuela's Constitution (written by Chávez supporters) has an article prohibiting the use of toxic chemicals and guns in the control of peaceful marches.

The TV is claiming unrest throughout the country. People around here tried to start a "pot-banging" event, despite the presence of the National Guard and Chavista Thugs very near by...

It is amazing how my kids no longer react to sirens or shooting around the neighborhood. They are so used to it. That's the main reason I have always wanted to leave this country... Who knows what kind of effects this is having on them?

The opposition was taking advantage of the fact that several presidents are visiting for a high level meeting of the G15 group. A friend claims seeing one dead... Today is February 27, dark date in Venezuelan history, since in 1989 there was an uprising, paradoxically, Chávez made a righteous flag out of the way the military behaved that day attacking the people... Same thing is happening today...

The TV is hypothesizing that the National Guard are not from Venezuela. The reason is that the length of hair of women officers do not correspond to the military regulations.

The Luxury of Ignorance: An Open-Source Horror Story
There seem to be two camps about this issue. One demands that users learn and damn the rest, the other strives to make it easier for the user (giving him the Luxury of Ignorance). Windows won by courting the first type at first and the second one later, hence getting everybody. Linux is attempting the same but much slower. Mac OS X, always tried the later (and fails to get market share). I think the reason is that the first philosophy is what keeps sysadmins employed, the second one keeps the user happy. Of course, doing both is contradictory and that what creates some of the problems with Windows... There is a lesson in all this, I think...
