The Wall Street Journal, 12/27/02: AT&T Wireless Scales Back Plan for 3G to Four U.S. Cities

AT&T Wireless Services Inc. said it is reducing and delaying its plans to launch a so-called third-generation mobile-telephone network in a significant rollback of its efforts, citing the need to maintain "a prudent level of capital expenditures."
The third-largest U.S. wireless carrier said it has revised an agreement with NTT DoCoMo Inc. and now will upgrade its network in just four cities by the end of 2004, down considerably from a previous commitment of 13 cities by the middle of that year.
