The Register: Judge betraying pro-MS bias???

John: Has some older benchmarks comparing mySQL with MSSQL7, FoxPro and Access. The noteworthy part is NOT that mySQL is faster. Of course it is, it's a lot less complex than SQL Server. No, instead I think the noteworthy point is that you can get all that great functionality that comes with SQL Server AND according to his test your only about 20% slower than the barebones alternative (mySQL). Now that's a story. Don't get me wrong. There is a place for mySQL, and in that place it really works like a champ. I'm just a little tired of all the web designer and Internet script kiddies thinking its a full fledged RDBMS - like Postgres or Oracle or Sybase or DB2 or MS SQL Server. Trust me its not.

How it Happened: "'In the beginning,' he said, 'exactly fifteen point two billion years ago, there was a big bang and the Universe--'" [From the Desktop of Dane Carlson] ( I liked this. I like clever stories with surprises.  Food for thought:  Genesis - especially the first few chapters on Creation -  is nothing but poetry. There is a certain rythm and cadence to the sentences that is completely indicative of poetic writing. And as the case typically is with poetry, six days may as well have been 15 billion years. Genesis is not a scientifc account but a poem highlighting the relationship between a Creator and his Creation. )

Adbuster: Bomb or no bomb I think this illustrates that war is hell.

Sam Ruby: Perhaps these guys might need a pointer to that JavaScript page you were showing in reference to the switch statement ??? I'm just giving you a hard time Sam. All that aside, here is a prime example of a person mentioning the source of my buddy's concern (almost at the end of the page).
