Have you ever been in a riot (part 2):

We are marking the ten year anniversary of the Los Angeles riots. Part one was listed in yesterday's blog. One of the odd little quirks that came out of the riot was a painter who engaged in grafitti in order to complain about grafitti. His tagline first turned up several weeks after one of the burned out buildings not too far from my residence had become a favorite target for local taggers. Isn't it ironic that a guy resorts to tagging in order to make fun of taggers? To make matters worse, somewhere along the way the poor fellow received enough attention that he felt it necessary to copyright his misbehavior and immortalize it on another corner, after the burnt out building had been replaced by a brandnew one. What a poor misguided schlepp this one was! One can only wonder if somehow, somewhere he thought there was a kind of affinity to the real LA tradition of mural's
