Facts about the highest tides in the world, in the Bay of Fundy - Scott Walking Adventures: "The water level at high tide can be as much as 16 meters (52.5 feet) higher than at low tide. "

Lots of info about those high tides. There's even an animated gif (you may get seasick watching it.) Various places around Nova Scotia claim to have the highest. I see this site mentions Wolfville (where I grew up).

The Doc Searls Weblog : Monday, February 4, 2002: "What we see if we watch the surf is barely discernable, even if we spend all day watching. But waves come in all sizes. What we call tides are just the longest, slowest ones."
Interesting! I have another perspective. I grew up in a house which overlooks the Minas Basin, home of the highest tides in the world. It never would have occured to me that someone could watch the water all day and not notice the tide!! Hmm. Maybe that's not what Doc meant.

Snow! It snowed again last night here in TO, before the last snowfall melted. Now in most any other year that wouldn't be news. But this year it is.

Coming to work, I purposely stayed outside (rather than take the tunnels) to get a full blast of the cold wind and snow.

Feeling better this morning. Must have been all the sleep I got.

Radio Radio : Radio Radio: "That CD you just bought? It might not be a CD at all according to Philips, the Dutch company that specifies just what, exactly, is and is not an audio compact disc. Philips, you see, is none to happy that the record labels have begun to distribute silver discs with music on them that do not meet the specifications of the audio compact disc standard. "

Great. Many people have been waiting for Philips to take a stand on this. And where is Sony?

Not feeling so great this evening. Probably not getting enough sleep. Hope I don't come down with something.
