Ferrets ?  I have been learning about ferrets lately as we recently adopted two of our fosters to a wonderful young couple who have 4 ferrets.  At first, I never dreamed Petey and Maddie would play with ferrets.  Boy was I wrong and I will have pictures to prove it sometime soon.

In the mean time, Sheri happened upon a wonderful ferret site where we learned a lot before meeting these wonderful little creatures.   Be sure to glance at the survey and much more importantly read the survey answers section on "What is the most embarrassing thing your ferret has over stolen?"  They appear to have an affinity for at least one item in particular.

For those of you who want to know why you should not buy and animal from a pet store, read this little article from petbusiness.com (a pet store industry rag).  As soon as the profits start to erode they cut the costs layed out in this article.  This leads to poor care and unhealthy animals.  Some are lucky and survive, many more end up with Parvo and die a very difficult death.

There are millions of animals being euthed in this world each and every day.  Please adopt an animal from a humane society or shelter or else you are contributing to this problem.

NY Times: "An Internet start-up goes public. It is not profitable, in fact, it has lost hundreds of millions of dollars to date, and faces competition from old-economy stalwarts. Yet on the first day of trading, investors go wild, pushing the company's stock up 60 percent. Sounds like 1999? It happened today."  [Scripting News// ; This a kool company who lately appear to be too big for the britches.  Early it was fantastic, not it extorts $ from you every chance it gets.  Only time will tell how long this will pan out.

Kevin Tapani retires // This is sad when he can still pitch better than half the Cubs staff and to think he passed on going to the Diamondbacks.
