Watch that input!. IBM's developerWorks site has a couple of articles that cover the issue of input validation and application security: Validating Input: Best Practices for Accpeting User Data and Keep an Eye on Inputs: Find and secure the gateways into your program. Both articles contain plenty of good design and programming tips that should help ensure that your application or web site can't be cracked via malicious input, and there are plenty of security-related links at the end of each article too.
