AP: Ivan Rodriguez, Tigers Near Agreement. allheadlinenews.com - Jan 29 2004 7:49:0 GMT [All Headline News - Top News and Headlines] //  This is bad news for us Cubs dreamers.  Why on earth would he sign with the Tigers ?  How much money is worth losing 100 games ?  Then again last year I thought the same thing when he signed with the Marlins.

This a cut and paste from melodicrock.com today, I tweaked a few to say Andrew rather than I but there are still a few, spread the word in melodicrock circles that this is planned for Chicago:

ROCK 2 THE RESCUE - A STATION FUND BENEFIT:
Just under 12 months ago, the tragedy of the Rhode Island Station Fire took place. Too many lives were lost, but on top of that, too many families lost loved ones and are still struggling with that fact today.
The Station Family Fund was established to raise money for these families. Now it's time for a musical benefit.
The official press release is below and click the flyer to the right for a larger view of the planned event.
I am calling on any interested bands/artists that would be willing and able to appear to please contact Andrew now. The event date has not yet been locked in, but it will be in April sometime. Updates will be quick to appear, so if you have any questions or interest, please
e-mail now!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 'National Acts & Artists Needed'
CHICAGO, IL (January, 2004) – The Rainbow Foundation in association with Sam Ash and MelodicRock.com announces a special benefit concert for the Station Family Fund (Rhode Island). This fundraising event is scheduled to take place in the early spring of 2004, possibly April in the Chicagoland area. Musicians and bands of all kinds will unite for performances to communicate one message: Rock 2 the Rescue.
Proceeds of the benefit concert will be donated to the Station Family Fund. As we have all seen since the events of September 11th, this country unites for its causes; and, the Station Family Fund is definitely a worthy one. The fundraising efforts will benefit the survivors, the spouses and/or children of the victims of The Station fire in Rhode Island; and, hopefully, call attention to the full-array of immediate needs not being met by government funds. For additional information on the Station Family Fund: Contact: Todd King, Vice President; Station Family Fund; Call: (878) 808-5340, (508) 877-1757; P.O. Box 214, Warwick, RI 02886. Or visit them online at
www.stationfamilyfund.org.
As word has circulated about this very special effort, a steady stream of enthusiastic musicians and organizations from around the nation/globe have added their names to the rapidly growing network of volunteers, performers and supporters developed for the benefit concert.
The idea of giving musicians the possibility to be part of a humanitarian project is not a new one. As so much music is about changing the world and making it better, Rock 2 the Rescue will allow musicians to do something more than just sing about making a difference. They will have an opportunity to actually do it. The success of the benefit concert depends on the willingness of the musicians to step forward and be a sterling example of humanity; for their efforts will benefit those struck by tragedy.
Join "Rock 2 the Rescue" of 2004.
