"Although December's unemployment rate was the lowest in 14 months, it reached that level because fewer people were looking for work, , the department said. More than 300,000 people gave up their search for jobs and dropped out of the pool of available workers, the department said." - Dow Plunges, Ends Down 134 on Jobs Report - Though things seem a little lighter than last year in the job market I have dropped into again, they are far from good and nothing even close to what the media has recently been reporting. 300 thousand people just gave up and are not looking for a job any longer. I see loads of people out there like this. When you have been out for 18 months to 2 years and you can't even get a reply from companies by phone, email or even snail mail, things are bad. Sure would be nice if the so called unemployement statistics really showed how many people are out. Unfortunately once you run out of unemployment, you just kind of drop into a black hole. No income, no unemployment, no Cobra, no insurance, it is truly brutal for people who have worked every day of their lives until now.
