NetNewsWire Lite public beta

- NetNewsWire is an easy-to-use news reader for web sites. It reads RSS files and uses a familiar three-paned interface - like that of Outlook Express or Mailsmith - to display websites and their news. It doesn't appear to be scriptable but finding AppleScript related news should be much easier! Now I just need to make the move to OS X as my main OS.

Features offered by the Satimage osax include: Basic commands on strings, lists and records, commands for reading and writing resources, a library of math functions, a framework for performing fast computations on list of real numbers and regular expressions. - PageSentry monitors crucial Internet services. Among the numerous changes in this version: Various "file open" features, for example the "Open Anything" and AppleEvent Notifier actions, have been rewritten for OS X and should now always work as expected. A new option has been added to automatically run a cleanup script on a daily basis. The script can perform routine maintenance (log rolling, etc.) but is primarily intended to perform a periodic PageSentry Mac restart, clearing out Open Transport, the file system, PageSentry itself, and other system components.

O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference set for September 30, 2002

- The conference, which will be held in Santa Clara, CA, is designed to let Unix people and Mac people learn from each other, and to let both learn from the people who're pushing the envelope, using the new Mac as a platform for building the future. Apple's Sal Soghoian will be among the speakers, with two AppleScript tutorials slated - Tutorial: AppleScript I and Tutorial: AppleScript II.

SuperCard OS X version is on its way

- According to this MacCentral article, the new owners of SuperCard have announced that an OS X version is in the works. SuperCard is a rapid application development environment which provides support for Apple's Appearance Manager, Drag and Drop, Color, multiple windows (including dialogs and palettes), QuickTime and QTVR, Speech Recognition, AppleScript, and much more.
