TidBITS: Mac OS X Report Card
- by Adam C. Engst. Adam takes a look at various aspects of OS X and issues a grade for each category. When discussing programmability, he finds that Apple has finally turned a corner by making development tools available for free. He also points out that while it's apparently very easy to implement scriptability in Cocoa applications, Apple doesn't support AppleScript in all of its own applications and he feels that this makes them look "downright stupid". Overall, the report card seems to reflect a fair assessment.

I agree with many of the points he made and I am glad to see AppleScript get publicity, even if it is less than enthusiastic. But, on the other hand, he ignored many of the amazing developments and possibilities of the language and scripting system that are here and now and..." [Mac Net Journal]
