QUOTE OF THE DAY "When I learn something new, and it happens every day, I feel a little more at home in this universe, a little more comfortable in the nest." - - Bill Moyers RHINO HERE: In the theme of "If you don't have a sense of humor about it, it's not very funny", I direct your attention to the cartoon talents of Lalo Alcaraz. LALO ALCARAZ ON THE 9/11 PROBE http://images.ucomics.com/comics/la/2002/la021203.gif 11/25/02 WASHINGTON POST ARTICLE ON LALO ALCARAZ: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A34529-2002Nov24.html Also of special note this week was the announcement of a coalition of Canadian peace groups intending to send a team of weapons inspectors into the U. S. later this winter. Calling themselves, "Rooting Out Evil", their spokesperson, Christy Ferguson, said, "Our action has been inspired by none other than George W. Bush. The Bush administration has repeatedly declared that the most dangerous rogue nations are those that: 1) have massive stockpiles of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons; 2) ignore due process at the United Nations; 3) refuse to sign and honor international treaties; and 4) have come to power through illegitimate means. On the basis of President Bush's guidelines, it is clear that the current U.S. administration poses a great threat to global security." Another coalition member, David Langille said, "We're following Bush's lead and demanding that the U.S. grant our inspectors immediate and unfettered access to any site in the country, including all presidential compounds, so that we can identify the weapons of mass destruction in this rogue state." Coalition members include Greenpeace Canada, the Centre for Social Justice, & the Toronto Committee Against War & Sanctions on Iraq. Supporting American groups are the National Network to End the War Against Iraq, Global Exchange & the US section of Women's International League for Peace & Freedom. Visit Rooting Out Evil's website and sign on as an honorary member of the weapons inspection team. http://www.rootingoutevil.org Getting nearly a million visitors a month now, BuzzFlash.com is an incredible source of politically-savvy, pro-democracy, anti-hypocrisy news and commentary. http://www.buzzflash.com The Buzzflash Guest Commentary excerpted below is Bill Moyers, normally a Clark Kent mildly mannered type, opening up a can of whoop ass on Bill O'Reilly for accusations and insults O'Reilly recently made about Moyers. Rhino says, "If only God would give the U.S., presidential candidates with the moral fortitude of the likes of William Moyers. MOYERS BIO IS AT: http://www.lucidcafe.com/library/96jun/moyers.html A recommendation for political humor I found at BuzzFlash was the serial cartoon "Get Your War On". Here's their description & links to the strips. BUZZFLASH RAP FROM THEIR FUNDRAISING PAGE WHERE THEY OFFER GIFT PREMIUMS "The election may be over, but the Iraq war is just around the corner. BuzzFlash strongly recommends "Get Your War On," a collection of the irreverent cartoon strips found at www.getyourwaron.com. An unlikely combination of clip art, bitter satire, and bare dialogue provide a mesmerizing minimalist "take" on the absurdity of the rush to attack Iraq. It's vulgar, sardonic and all-too-real. If you want a sampling, go to the website that has become an underground hit. Then buy the print version from BuzzFlash.com" RHINO AGAIN: All royalties from "Get Your War On" are donated by author David Rees, to the Mine Detection & Dog Center Team #5 who clear unexploded landmines in Afghanistan. A Buzzflash Guest Commentary by Bill Moyers, December 4, 2002 In a recent column and broadcast Bill O'Reilly makes a number of assertions about me, in matters large and small, that are both undocumented and false. It's time to set the record straight. First, on a rather trivial level, Mr. O'Reilly asserted that I refused to come to the phone when he called. He's not telling the truth. One of his staff called my assistant to ask if I would appear on Mr. O'Reilly's show, but I declined. I would never refuse a call from Mr. O'Reilly, although my ears are not quite tuned to his decibel level...
