MIT WIRELESS FORUM

The MIT Wireless Forum is part of the non-profit MIT Club of Boston and MIT Club of New York and seeks to provide a forum for everyone interested in the world of "wireless" to come together once each month to hear from leaders of industry and academia. The forum provides a place for the exchange of ideas and for networking.

Public Wireless Networks

Time: April 23rd, 2002 6:30pm
Location: MIT Ashhdown Hall(directions)
Cost: $10 pre-registration, $15 at door. (Pre-register)

Speakers include:

Simson Garfinkel
Founder, CTO, Sandstorm Enterprises
Simson Garfinkel is Chief Technology Officer at Sandstorm Enterprises, a computer security company that develops offensive information warfare tools used to probe the security of computer systems and test defenses. He was the Network Architect for Broadband2Wireless, a start-up that attempted to establish a nation-wide wireless ISP. Besides his activities as an entrepreneur, Garfinkel is a journalist and author. His articles have appeared in more than 50 publications including The Boston Globe, the San Jose Mercury News, the Christian Science Monitor, Technology Review Magazine, ComputerWorld, Forbes, The New York Times, Omni and Discover. Garfinkel is the author or co-author of nine books. Garfinkel holds three degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and has a certification in computer security from International Information Systems Security Certifications Consortium.
Michael Oh
Founder, Tech Superpowers
Michael Oh founded Tech Superpowers, Inc. in 1992 while still a freshman at M.I.T. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, he traveled to Boston to go to school and now holds Degrees in Computer Science and Aeronautical Engineering from M.I.T. He is also the developer of the Newbury Open Network, Boston's first centralized free public wireless network. Michael will also be speaking at the Eye on Wireless event this coming May.

Tech Superpowers, Inc. was recognized as one of the 500 fastest growing companies in America by Inc. Magazine in 2001 is expected to have revenues of $1.8M this year.
