Not that anyone cares but here's a picture of this wonderful blog in all it's Longhorn Alpha glory.

And so it starts.  I ran Windows 2k months early, XP months early.  Now I'm running Longhorn, the mysterious next version of Windows.  It's broken.  Actually it's just an Alpha so it's not exactly in complete working order and won't be for some time I'm sure.  They are hinting at some interesting things though.  There won't be much information available on it till the PDC in October.  No one can really talk about it who's involved in it due to what I'm sure is a book length NDA.  The latest leaked build is 4015, also known as Milestone 5 or M5 for short.  I'm not telling where I got it though cause I had to search and so can you.  Bits and pieces of some of the new features are working but the WinFS slows the thing down incredibly.  Install was only around 20 minutes though and you could walk away half way through it (in fact it cheerfully invites you to do so).  I believe it'll go into early beta sometime around the PDC and then maybe thing will start to shape up a bit.  The new interface hasn't been plugged in yet so it uses a pretty ugly XP like theme.  All in all I'm just a geek who has to have the new thing on the block.
