W.T.O. Rules That U.S. Steel Duties Are Illegal. The World Trade Organization ruled against heavy import duties on steel imposed by the Bush administration, saying that they are illegal under global trade rules. By The Associated Press. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]

Ok this isn't exactly Longhorn stuff lol.  I still feel pretty strongly on the Tariff issue though.  Tariffs are just wrong.  The government has begged for and showered praise upon the "Global Marketplace" and in fact it benefits us greatly.  Unfourtanatly it means that we will be beat in some areas, including steel.  Maybe the world should give us a lesson and say impose a 60% tariff on all software imported from the U.S. .  I think that'll teach us a lesson.  After all many nations have fledgling computer industries that can't compete with a MS or Intel.  A lot of the reason things are so expensive to produce here is our amazing No Liability culture that we've created.  If the lawyers and sue happy people would just calm down a bit I think things could get a lot cheaper.  No wait, that can't happen cause people would have to admit they're responsible for their own actions and the government has worked so hard to make them forget that so when something goes wrong we all run to Bush.  Just my opinion of course.
