Gads...It's gettin' down to the wire. We all worked straight through weekend - 12 hour days, peddling like mad.

Poor Peter - he's definitely a project widow....

In between meetings and project work, I've been checking in on Katrina and New Orleans. Landfall is about an hour from now. This will be amazing...

New Orleans has dodged the bullet for years. Their luck may have run out...

It will be very interesting to note all the post storm commentary and analysis regarding the levees and dams which were created over many many many years by the Army Corps of Engineers. John McPhee's book The Control of Nature written 16 years ago, has a fabulous section on the engineering of the levees and damns surrounding New Orleans. As one reads the story, one can't help but wonder at the wisdom of trying to subvert nature in such an extreme way...

Pretty amazing - in the past week, we've gone from Summer to Fall. There is a nip in the air, the leaves have really started to turn, the strong aroma of ripe berries is pervasive, the State Fair is underway, geese are flocking, etc.

Tonight, the mountains are enshrouded in fog and rain. There are those who are convinced that tomorrow morning, we will wake up to our first Termination Dust of the year.

I love Fall - the Ski Boy, however, feels differently.
