The sale of shipping operations at 6 ports to a business owned by the United Arab Emirates has created quite the brouhaha. You know, I'm pretty darn politically correct, but even I think this is spectacularly myopic on the political front. And if I think it's bad, imagine what the conservatives think!
For example, the conservsative National Review stated that the move was "politically tone deaf".
My major snort momment occured this morning - President Bush stated, "They [Congress] need to know, that the Government has looked at this deal."
I guffawed when I heard that one. As the Ski Boy pointed out, "This is the same government that looked at Katrina."
Does anyone else find it beyond ironic that an avowed conservative is essentially saying, "Trust Me. I'm From the Government."
The conservatives I know and respect are probably totally flinching over this one.
UPDATE: Bill Frist and I agree. This is actually blicky. I may rethink my position.
