Interested in picking up Charles Baxter’s book on the strength of the “Rhyming Action” essay I read in, um, Michigan Quarterly? May have to pick it up on line.

Saw the new Steven Brust book last night, Paths of the Dead, but it seems to be in the same vein as the Khaavren romances. I enjoy Dumas; I spent one finals week in college enmeshed in the three-volume translation of Count of Monte Cristo, er, Cômte de Monte Cristo? Eh. However, it seems more affected when Brust uses it, because I suppose I prefer his other works: Agyar, the Taltos books, Sun Moon Stars, et alia.

Whoops, I forgot to link up the Recueillement poem to my little, um, sonic pastiche. Corrected.

Well, it looks like I have at least one more reason to be glad to be working in Philadelphia rather than on the beach in Manhattan. If I switch to a channel that’s talking about the impending transit strike, I have no qualms about changing the channels. Unfortunately, some of my favorite blogs are devoting a great deal of time to this issue.

Angry White Girl blogs about the transit strike. Brian blogs about it. Aaron Haspel blogs about it. Megan blogs about it. Liz of Zeebahtronic is vacillating on the issues (no permalink yet).

By the way, Liz also points to the human clock. Kinda keen.

Also, I got a link from Doc Weevil’s pictures from Blogapalooza in NYC. I suppose that that referer hit looking for Megan’s picture a couple of days ago succeeded except for the whole black mask thing that was applied to her face. And since Dr. Glenn Reynolds has mentioned that she’s a babe, I suppose I might get more of these. At least until Media Matters airs, whatever that is. I’m surprised she let herself be taped, considering how concerned she was about stalkers. Perhaps being under the protection of the foreign service has emboldened her. Overgrown elf! (I’m #15 on Google for using that phrase).

As of now though, Billy+Collins+Lanyard Google hits predominate. I think these go up during the weekends when PHC listeners pick through the archives.
