The beginning of the end came earlier than many of us thought. It's not there yet but Baghdad seems to be Saddam-free now.

The other face of war which does not get shown on CNN or western media is that of the toll on the Iraqi families. A mother weeping next to her daughter with an amputated limb. What do you think she would prefer a happy child playing in the backyard under a repressive regime or a crippled girl breathing the air of freedom? I know, these are small sacrifices that one has to pay for the common good...

Innumeracy: an FDA inspector visited a restaurant in Salt Lake City famous for its quiches made from four fresh eggs. She told the owner that according to FDA research every fourth egg has salmonella bacteria, so the restaurant should only use three eggs in a quiche.We can laugh about these... That is no laughing matter because people like them have power over us who know better.

Al Jazeera's office was hit in Baghdad and a reporter was killed. Is it just coincidence that soon after Kabul was taken their office there suffered a similar fate?
