I'm going to break the "write about self in third person" protocol today, to explain why The Boulder Inquisition has been relatively "dark" for the past several weeks.  My one faithful reader (Hi, Mom!) already knows this, but maybe there's another person or two out there who might be wondering.

Tomororrow afternoon at 2 (EDT), a judge is going to listen to my ex and me for an hour, and then will decide whether my daughter will be attending school in the city where I live or in the city where her mother lives.

This is all quite wrenching since, for the past four years, little SweetPea has been "commuting" every other weekend, spending two weeks at my house, then two at her mother's house, then back, then forth, ...  She's a remarkably adaptable and resilient kid, and has really gotten used to the alternating-fortnight living pattern.  But now that's all going to change.  She'll be with one parent or the other for school, with the other for vacations, so that the 50%-50% time split will look more like 70%-30%.  Layer that on top of the transition from pre-school to Real School, and our little girl is going to need all of her reserves of resilience, flexibility, and good cheer to get through the next few months.

The decision is gut-wrenching, and there's no obvious, no-brainer answer, one way or the other.  So now it's all up to the Guy in the Black Dress.  Pray for us all, please.  Especially my little girl.
