Yesterday, I was speaking about selling technology and how difficult it is. Let's continue today with another point of view. This article will tell you about the biggest "lies" that technology vendors, consultants and IT people can say to "normal people" -- understand, non-techies -- during a trade show:
"Our solution is plug-and-play."
"We've got great references."
"We've got multiple provisional patents."
"We'll fix that bug in the next release." Or, "We're planning that feature for the next release." Heard from internal developers or external software companies when their existing product falls woefully short in some crucial area.
"This is fully documented."
"The analyst firms say..."
Does this ring a bell? It should...
