Yikes! How did I miss this one? Thanks to Michael Silence for pointing
out a press release generated by the office across the hall from mine!
The strange thing is that I've also been pointing news writing students
to the UT PR office's website
all week
as they search for story ideas... but this week they're mostly looking
for pumpkin carvings, haunted houses and Halloween parties. Maybe the
vice president just wasn't scary enough. (He's visiting after the
deadline for the Halloween stories anyway... but should be a great
"extra credit" project for the early risers in the class.)
Vice President Dick Cheney will be
among Senator Howard Baker's special guests at the groundbreaking for
the University of Tennessee's Howard Baker Center for Public Policy
building, set for 11 a.m. November 15 at Thompson Boling Assembly
Center and Arena. Press release here. [No Silence Here]
Wait a minute... How do you have a "groundbreaking" indoors? It sure
could be rough on the basketball floor! Must be a security thing, along
with the recommended "before 9 a.m." arrival time for the 11 a.m.
event.
The actual Baker Center building "ground" for the two-year
construction project is at the corner of Cumberland Avenue and Melrose
Place, a couple of hilltops away from Thompson Boling Arena.
