People are concerned about games being addictive, but there's another problem with games like EverQuest, Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot and so on, and that's that once you get to the higher level game, they just stop being fun.
I mean, playing Dungeon Siege is fun, but logging into EverQuest for another night of killing the same creatures over and over without moving more than a few feet from the spot I started out in, well, it's not really fun. It's rewarding, in a way - if I do that enough I'll get to go somewhere else and do the same thing.
If I log in and spend 3 hours fighting in the Dreadlands, what's the end result? A number in a database somewhere in California gets a little bigger.
