This is good news: Amazon coming to Canada. Of course it might be bad news for Chapters, which I think is Canada-only right now, but then again sometimes I think Chapters needs a little competition.
What the world of online commerce needs is cheaper/faster delivery for small items. I'd love to buy, say, a new toaster online, but the toaster's $10 and shipping is $10, so it's hardly worth it. Probably the biggest winners in the eCommerce world are UPS and the postal service.
Sears has depots where you can go to pick up online orders, and they don't charge you shipping if you do that. Maybe some entrepreneur can set up a city-to-city shipping service with ultra-low rates for businesses to use to get products to depots where consumers can pick them up..
Then again, maybe people should just go pick up their own stuff and the $10 is a reasonable tax on laziness..
