Welcome to the Dreamweaver MX Blog. I am the Community Manager for Macromedia Dreamweaver and I work for Macromedia. Come to see what is happening in the community, on the Dreamweaver Team and around the web... Most of all, you get to hear my opinion.

Dreamweaver MX, a Beginner's Guide - Tom Muck and Ray West - Now released at Amazon. I hope I get to review this title as I think that it might be a really good title. If you have been using the Dreamweaver MX Complete Reference, you may want to take a look at this for the less technical or beginning members of your team.

(I just noticed that Amazon shows the THICKNESS of the books as well as the height and width... Now you can plan your bookshelf ahead of time... )

Building PHP Applications With Macromedia Dreamweaver MX - Harish Kamath for www.devshed.com - Massimo tipped me off to this one. Thanks Massimo!

An exploration of the PHP features of Dreamweaver MX. "Most RAD tools include very limited support for PHP - which makes them unwelcome visitors on my computer, since most of my work involves working with PHP and MySQL-based sites. When I got my hands on Dreamweaver MX, though, I was impressed with its feature set and capabilities. Sure, it didn't include *everything* on my wish list...but it's clear that the guys at Macromedia have been thinking about the problem, and have made a serious effort to address PHP in their tool. "

The tone of the article is informal and informative. If you are a PHP pro looking at DMX, this is a good start. If you are DMX person looking at PHP, then this is a very good article to look at.

Also remember that the User Authentication and Master-Detail Page extensions are available on the Developer Resource Kit volume 2.

HomeSite+ 5.2 Udater - If you are using HomeSite+, there is an updater available that you may want to download. I was going to post what was fixed here, but the list is FAR too long to do so. See the fixes in the release notes or simply download the updater.

If you are using HomeSite 5 and not HomeSite+, there will be an update forthcoming after the holidays. There is a lot going on on the web site and we needed to schedule them separately unfortunately. Please hold tight.

Studio MX intro pricing ends December 31 - The introductory pricing for Studio MX goes from $799 to $899 on January 1. If you are thinking of buying, you probably want to do that now. Not only will you save $100, but the Developer Resource Kit volume 1 is included as a special offer AND if you order from the blog here, you get an additional 10% off, an offer that also expires on January 1. I know it is kind of bad timing with Christmas and all, but it is the end of the quarter.

The Macromedia Store.

If Christmas time wasn't stressful enough, now you might have to watch that MP3... - c|net - New report that security flaws in Windows XP and WinAmp (which I use and love) can allow modified MP3 files to take over your computer... I guess all that stuff about music being evil that Tipper Gore was going on about may be true...
