Great Article on CFDJ about why FREE servers are not always the best choice - This is something that I really feel strongly about. I like PHP in concept and practice. I have a site using it. I think that .Net t is good and interesting. My real love though, is ColdFusion. CF is far easier to use than any other language on almost every level from the simple fact that you have to type less, to the higher end tasks. Well I don't need to make that case myself any longer, I can refer to this article.

Blogging get's its first scalp? - Yesterday I heard an excellent piece on National Public Radio's On the Media. The author, John Podhoretz, from the New York Times talks about the gaffe that blew up into the Trent Lott affair and how that unfolded. Podhoretz makes a good argument that the blogging community was alerted by a member of the Clinton administration when the significance of the now infamous comment was not grabbed by the regular press that was on scene. Now calls for Lott's removal came from the right and the left so this is not a partisan comment, but a comment on how opinion, when not presented or created by the regular media was formed and consolidated in the blogosphere and then returned back to the regular press. Interesting democratization in a world where opinions are more and more formed in the media by the media themselves. NPR Report.

BTW, at the bottom of the page is another article on faking corporate web sites in protest and there is a great mention of Dreamweaver by the guy that did a fake Dow Chemical site. He uses the search and replace extensively. :-)

Online Privacy - For those of you that are watching the White House on thier online security plans, there is more word from them that they are not interested in monitoring, or more properly, they are not planning on monitoring all of us in our online practices. This is a HUGE issue and the pressure from the community has been instrumental in this change of course. I think that privacy advocates should monitor this closely and make sure that they speak up for their rights. Article on c|net.

Happy Holidays - We are officially off this week, but I think most of us on the Community Management team will be popping about all week. For those of you that are having a holiday, then enjoy it and for those of you that are not holiday keepers, hope the week is good and peaceful for you as well.
