The Email End is Nigh!

If current trends continue for two more years, I doubt that open email can survive. I hear three major complaints:

"If I go away for even a couple of days, I dread catching up with my email - If go away for more than a week.......! Nearly everyone feels a sense of doom when not attached daily to their email. The last days of a vacation of a busines trip can be crushed by the dread of the hundreds of emails to wade through.

or

" Last year I got hardly any spam. Now my inbox is full of it" Of course much of what you get back to is all about  a larger penis, more credit, earning thousands at home etc. Who replies to this stuff?

or

"I get 2-3 viruses day day!" Last week I got 7 in one day.

Many old timers have changed their email addresses. I have had mine for years. It is simple, memorable and mine. I don't want to change it but I may have to. But then how long will I have before I have to change my new address. Most of us have every "protection" device known to man installed. But this stuff is not only getting through but is gaining on us. Will the days of open mail be soon over for heavy users? What will we do instead?

Maybe Blogging in communities, using Groove to talk to the close group of friends - some form of VPNs?

What do you think?
