David Bau: With automatic WSDL and stub-generation tools, it is actually very easy to fall into the tight-coupling trap.

The article talks about the JWS feature of BEA Weblogic 7.0. Don't confuse this with the JWS feature of Axis. It is similar at first glance but goes far beyond that. Javadoc annotations for code generation at deployment time. I believe that's what they use in their new Workshop product and IMO it's much needed. I wonder why they didn't do that for EJB. Maybe because Rickard Öberg already did. JWS seems to go even further than that. But it looks like XDoclet can be extended to provide something similar for Open Source. BEA now tries to push it as a JSR. By coincidence the author of the article is the specification lead. He also was one of the architects of ASP.NET. It is likely that the final JSR will be slightly different since JSR 181 will build on top of JSR 175 for which Joshua Bloch is specification lead.
