Jacob also reads The Morning News (black and white and read all over),  "a Web-based broadsheet, publishing new articles every weekday. Each issue is free. Each article is free. Even our services are free, for the right price." It's managed by two guys with full-time day jobs: Rosecrans Baldwin and Andrew Womack. They accept submissions which fit within their topics of interest. (Hmm... couldn't find their email address anywhere...) Dog pound suspends dog shootings KY  Officials were forced suspend shooting stray dogs "after a home video showed the pound manager, Ted Chisolm, shooting the animals in the head." Prior to the suspension, up to 800 dogs a year were dispatched by a bullet. "I'm not against using needles on these dogs, but I want to know what it costs," Magistrate David Brown said. "I'm not an inhumane fella." Additional costs for humane euthanasia could run up to $30,000 per year. [The Louisville Channel]

Dog, burned in acid spill, survives Sara Lee Corp has agreed to pay for expensive treatments for a dog injured after 2,000 gallons of sulfuric acid spilled from a tank on factory grounds and ran into neighboring yards. "Sandy, a German shepherd mix, suffered severe burns on her paws walking in runoff from the spill Aug. 5, which ran under a fence from the factory onto a neighboring property."
