The ultimate anti-terror device: the dogGet a dog; reduce terror Dogs are a great resource in these terrorist times. We have continual alarming terrorist alerts here in the DC area and in New York. Our dog was able to bring comfort to people. Dogs understand; dogs don't judge; dogs are innocent (unless trained otherwise or neglected).

In the 9/11 Trade Center bombing, dogs were able to break through to people in deep sorrow. Dogs helped rescue people. In a high-stress, high-tech world, dogs bring sanity and comfort.
Plea to save deathrow dog who defied the odds UK 'A dog which survived brutal beatings by its owner now faces being put down. Two-year-old mongrel Tye had been given little chance of survival. And experts said he would certainly never walk again. But now, although he has defied the odds by returning to full fitness, Tye could lose his life because no one has been found to give him a permanent home. Tye's owner beat him and another dog - which was so severely injured it had to be destroyed - with an iron bar and leather belts, and starved them. What a blue day ... we drove to Petsmart to treat our dog to some socializing and dog treats. A couple approached me and told me their tragic dog story: they had their chow put down because he bit two people. The wife told me that she had permitted a child to push his food dish around while he was eating and the child teased the dog until it bit him (what a recipe for disaster.) She explained that her dog was so smart that he figured out how to open the gate in the back yard.  (Apparently, they left him in the back yard a lot...)  Now she grieves for her dog who was 'the best dog in the world.'  If you love your dog, don't let this happen to you. It's imperative to supervise and train your dog. Don't leave his personality to chance; don't leave him alone all day -- give him day care or have him walked. Learn what makes a dog aggressive and what soothes the doggy spirit. When you give your dog a purposeful life (ie, fun activities), you may literally be saving his/her life. You won't have to 'put him down.'

While at Petsmart, we met the Greenbelt, Maryland, representative who works for Partnership for Animal Welfare, Inc. PAW helps people adopt and rescue abandoned dogs. PAW also provides education on animal ownership and care. They are also a United Way/CFC organization.

Our dog visits for Pets on Wheels to cheer up senior hospital day care residents. He is a movie star at heart; his charm light turns on when he spies people; he wants to meet them; he wants them to hug him and talk with him; he lives for that moment when he can listen attentively. He gets as much out of the visits as the residents do; it's rejuvenating for his spirit; he feels their happiness and he sparkles because of it.
Man gets jail time for beating and tossing little dog into traffic MA Incredibly, the dog survived with a broken leg and severe cuts and the girlfriend with bruises and cuts... the creep was convicted of just about everything charged.

'Judge Patrick Hurley found Pagaduan guilty of assault and battery, animal cruelty, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to stop for a police officer, negligent driving, resisting arrest, making threats and driving without a license. Charges of attempted murder, assault with intent to murder, carjacking and assault were dropped at the request of prosecutors.' Man gets jail time for terrorizing girlfriend: Convicted of choking woman, tossing dog [Patriot Ledger of South Boston via The Snewp]
hey, Radiolanders: have you visited Joe's Jenett Radio lately... he likes Radioland a lot and Dog News does too. He also helped make this site happen. If you don't like the design, don't blame him (blame me [his designs are much more elegant], but hey, ... BloggyOpinions liked our design).  He did a lot of the difficult programming. He has possibly the oldest cat on the planet ... and that says a great deal about the care he gives his animals (and people too). If you have a Radioland site and need help, go talk to Joe. He also gives away some great Radioland theme designs and he is a CSS designer extraordinarie...

'The more sources, the better, so, if you're a Radio user and consider your subscription list public, please hop on board by contacting Dave... ' [jenett radio] (Hey, Dog News contacted Dave right away... hmmm...). The features in Radioland are incredible... I love the referers listing. That's how I find out about all the cool sites that visit Dog News...  What I really like is the idea of sharing resources. I also visit other sites and their referer listings, available through Dave's Rankings. Many of Dog News' implemented features were discovered just this way. In fact, that's how I discovered Jenett Radio.
