Add flush to 'poop and scoop'  Canada 'A City of Ottawa committee has approved a bylaw prohibiting dog owners from disposing of their pet's waste in park garbage cans. The city doesn't care whether people throw the feces into their household trash or flush it down the toilet, they just don't want to haul it out of the park... '

'That Ottawa could become the only municipality in Canada where dog owners have been asked to take this step is ridiculous.' [CBC Ottawa] (this IS groundbreaking news: I thought I was doing my part to scoop and bag the dog's poop along with intermixed kitty litter in the bag so it wouldn't smell and dispose of it in our garbage. Turns out you need special biodegradable bags so it'll break down... )

Cold weather? Careful with Fido's bath... CA 'Pet owners should be careful when bathing pets in winter. Animals are naturally protected from water and even after a rain a dog's fur will still be dry under the top coat. After a bath, however, a pet takes a lot longer to dry because the water gets all the way down to the skin.  In the cold temperatures at night, a wet pet can get chilled after the sun goes down, especially at night.'
