Canadians must hate us. I was just thinking, watching more crazy,
fearmongering U.S. broadcast news (they played the clip of John
Ashcroft's press conference on the Patriot Act, talking about the 353
arrests, 170+ convictions - arrests and convictions for what?
Terrorism? Plotting to commit terrorist acts? What were the arrests
for?, no counterpoint, just on to the next alarming story about plastic
bracelets with hidden sexual meanings among teens), how much we have
made their travel around the world dangerous. We can always say we're
Canadian when we're traveling, but pretty soon no one is going to
believe any English speaking traveler - Brits will probably try it too.
How many people really know the difference between Canadian, British
and American English? Eh?
I discovered this evening, after talking to Bill about it earlier
today, that the increased awareness and fullness of my brain is
allowing a closer link with my body. I finally realized, after over 20
years of shoulder problems, that the reason my left shoulder, and not
my right, gets fried, is that I don't bring the stroke under and
through, but pull almost straight down, off at an angle, when I'm
taking a breath to my right side. I've been trying to break up my
breathing, alternating left and right, to see if that helps, but just
realized the why of that phenomenon tonight. I also, almost as if my
shoulders where talking to me, helping me find a path towards healing,
sculled tonight, something I haven't done for almost twenty years. I'd
forgotten what a fantastic conditioning and feel exercise that is,
sculling feet first especially. It's almost as if I'm expecting my
shoulders to go to a heavy tractor pull before they've had a chance to
just drag the harness around for a little while, build up some
supporting, finer muscles.
