Nice recognition for a new piece of the ibm.com site:
Just found out that our Digitas comrades in NY, got Site of the Week honors from Communication Arts for the IBM Executive Interaction Channel. Congrats guys! Not a bad gift for the holidays. :) . . . [Logic+Emotion] I happened upon the page somewhat accidentally yesterday (I don't spend a lot of time on the external IBM site) while following some podcast linkage (yes, IBM does podcasts, big time. . . more on that when I can reveal a recent stealth project, perhaps next month). I must confess that I find the floaty bubble thingies a bit odd, as it's not clear what they represent, they just sort of float randomly about. And when I got there, the image wasn't a microphone, as shown in the linked image, but a person, looking a bit concerned to have alien bubble things bumping into his head. But I guess it looked good to the Communication Arts folks.

First as guest editor for the November Intercom, then a podcast interview[~]it's looking like a good close to the year for Karen Bachmann.
In
this podcast, Karen Bachman, manager of the Usability and User
Experience SIG, provides an overview of the user-centered design
process. More specifically, she describes the following:
- How usability is defined
- Typical steps in the usability process
- Fitting in usability with a typical development life cycle
- User analysis
- User interface prototypes
- Usability test plans
Karen admitted during lunch in Orlando last summer that she didn't get the memo that says five years of volunteer service to STC is enough[~]she's been at it for ten years without a break, preaching usability goodness wherever she goes. Good job, Karen!
