The peripatetic Eric Muller, while acting as a guest conspirator for Volokh, has moved IsThatLegal from BlogSpot to what he describes as a “more stable server.”

News & Record reader Eric Welder asks in a letter to the editor: “Is it intentional misinformation or simply omission that your outlet refuses to refer to Eric Robert Rudolph as a ‘terrorist’ or at least a ‘suspected terrorist?’…

“Rudolph's views and even his actions are supported and/or sympathized with by many in America. While these extremists may feel little guilt for sympathizing with an ‘Olympic bombing suspect,’ they most likely prefer to believe that they are opposed to ‘terrorism.’ Thus, avoiding associating Rudolph with terrorism implicitly endorses his actions to a degree."

Elijah was playing chess with a hustler in Washington Square. “Shorty makin’ him think,” said the peanut gallery. “Shorty got him per-plexed.”

The pro won, but Elijah made him work a little. He’s been playing in the park on visits to New York since he was seven or so, and at eleven he’s unintimidated  by the hustler tricks – the way they pop the pieces down with authority and snatch away the man they’re taking, the running commentary from them and their pals. Yesterday he was more nervous about trying his first escargots at Les Halles (he liked them) than he was about sitting down for a few games on a sunny day.
