Mark Tosczak is pondering ways to make money as a weblogger if you aren’t Andrew Sullivan. “I think if you ran a focused blog like a trade publication, and thought of it as a publication, and more than just a blog, that you might be able to make an OK living.”

He’s onto something – some of the most interesting weblogs are the ones written with a tight focus and deep expertise. No reason you couldn’t brand that and sell it.

Similar logic suggests another possible income-producing weblog strategy, touched on by InstaPundit, who notes that OJR’s article on city-blogs overlooks the possibilities for weblogs that cover smaller markets. Local news in blogform, written with deep knowledge of the community and no production costs -- hey Mark, wanna start one up?
