Governor Pawlenty's Policies

I give Governor Pawlenty a +1 for his proposal to import medicine from Canada and his quote in the NY Times article today.

"The reason you have the beginnings of a prairie rebellion here is that there is a crisis and nobody has properly responded,"

I have to give him credit for that in spite of the fact that his policies made my property taxes go up a little bit.  The state cut aid to cities.  This aid used to spread the burden of urban problems across the state.  Now that burden will rest even more heavily on Minneapolis home owners.

Now when a Minneapolis cop sticks a plunger handle up a guys rear-end, and the city gets sued, I pay even more.  How is this fair, exactly?  Doesn't this punish people who live closer in to the city and drive less?  Doesn't this further reward the owners of McMansions who are tearing up farmland, using up gas to commute, and becoming obese and diabetic?

And on the flip side, the state has decided that I should pay a whole lot more for dependent health care.  So I am being further punished by the Pawlenty administration for having children.  So Pawlenty has to get a bunch more points on the score sheet to make it up to zero.
