Bye Bye Outlook

I dumped Internet Explorer in favor of Mozilla. Now I think I will dump Outlook Express because of this:

Flying Carp in Minnesota

Asian carp have arrived in Minnesota. The fish pictured is a bighead carp, the first known asian carp caught in Minnesoata waters.  It was caught in a commercial net in Lake Pepin yesterday and brought to our pathology lab for a "checkup".  Asian Carp are known to jump suprisingly high out of the water when suprised by an approaching motorboat or other noise. AFSCME Strikers

I stopped to talk to these strikers at the University of Minnesota and asked them how they saw their strike as connected with other recent strikes.  As expected, they are mostly concerned with the near doubling of their health care costs and they were aware that the other strikes were mostly about health care.  Right now it is just 1800 clerical staff that are out on strike, but the medical technicians there have also voted to strike.  They said that students and faculty were quite supportive and a number of professors took their classes off campus.  I saw a number of students with buttons supporting the strikers, but overheard others making less than sympathetic remarks.  " oooh oooh wave your signs ", is what I remember.  Oh well.

I asked them who gets to decide on their contracts, in the end and that would be the board of Regents.  They urged members of the public to contact individual regents to ask them to settle.
