Here I am in East Longmeadow, Mass, at my dad's house. Not much to report. I chopped wood for a while, but my back wasn't sure how it felt about that, so I quit and helped Maggie with phonics.

I watched two northern mocking birds dive bombing the family cat for a while. These aggressive birds do not rest while a predator is nearby. If the cat looks out the window, the birds are there frontin' on the other side. If the cat crawls under a car in terror, the birds post themselves at opposite ends of the car and scold. If the cat is in the open, they swoop down and peck his tail. I have to wonder if they are wasting all their time and energy on this cat and failing to do their other work just because of a flashing "CAT" signal in their brains.

...and just now came back from 14 oz of steaky goodness at the Springfield Country Club.
