Ho. Here I am at the Nantucket Public Library. I had a vague memory of a book about Nantucket from when I was very very little. It featured a walrus living in a lighthouse and a man with a very salty beard. I searched and searched on the internet to remember the title, but I couldn't find it. Just now, I browsed the Nantucket shelf of the children's section and recognized the book by its binding:

John Tabor's Ride by Blair Lent

Out of print since 1980

what a warm feeling to find this book.

Here I am on Nantucket. I am in a cabin at a place called Point Breeze. Today, instead of a breeze we have driving rain. We also have a box of phonics cards and some hot chocolate. Yesterday was gorgeous, though. We ran into my Aunt Claire on the ferry and Claire initiated a reeling dance on the ferry deck which Maggie continued long after the adults made themselves sick.

We had a lobster dinner last night at the Lobster Trap. They have their own beer out here called Whale Tail Pale Ale. This ale tasted about the same as the Steel Rail Pale Ale we had in Springfield the other night. 4 lobsters delivered to the table all at once kind of blew Maggie's mind. I made mine wave its claws around and talk to her to try to make her comfortable.

And to top off the night we watched South Park, which Maggie found hilarious. The South Park episode featured some homeschool kids.....

I slept like crap last night. There is no reason for it. I carefully avoided any caffiene after 9:00 am. Is it possible that a lack of caffeine kept me awake? My new theory is that my body produces lots of caffeine antidote every day and if I don't overdose on coffee on a given day, the antidote keeps me awake. Could also be the beer keeping me awake.

Other complaints? My camera won't take a charge any more for some reason. Either the battery is messed up or the charger is messed up.

Besides that, Nantucket is really cool. Old weathered cape cod shingled buildings all built close together and you can walk everywhere. A kid's beach is right around the corner and we are going to go make the greatest sand castle evah as soon as the rain lets up. Great to see Mike in all his robustness, ready to get married. Great to see Amanda.
