Got the big voluntary-mandatory work Holiday party tonight. . .kind of ambivalent this year, no date, no sex, basically just hanging out with work people who most of which I really don't know and could probably do without and who could do without me. . .plus i'm dying to get up in the morning and go fishing so that has to cut into the drinking of free booze some. . .it's at the Adams-Mark downtown with such stuff as casino games, a tarot reader, Kareoke (sp), DJ, and a comedian. . .what comedian could they have possibly gotten on a Friday night. . .is there any way he's funny?  I seriously doubt it. . .but today was bonus day so i'm not so ambivalent anymore. . .god I hope he's funny. . .funnier than some people I work with anyway. . .

Ok no more soccer games at 11:20 I hope, I have no desire to go to sleep yet, it's freaking almost 2, and I know tomorrow is going to suck and this late night is greatly reducing my chances of actually going fishing on Saturday.  I suppose I could go on Sunday but not sure I'm interested in that.  This blog needs serious help but i'm going to go to bed for now and work more on it at some point in the very near future.

Hurried Woman Syndrome strikes Millions!!!! Run for your lives!!! Ok so I don't think I buy this on all sorts of levels. First of all, I have to agree that we tend to medicalize (is medicalize a word? I hope so, I kind of like it) everything and the drug companies have to love that.

ADD is one example that she lists and I like it. Hell, with all the sensory stimuli that I get on a daily basis, I have no idea how I survive. I can't imagine what a 9 year old gets.

But a trap that I think she falls into is the "Women do all the work around the house" issue. I mean, do they really still do all the work? Don't you know by the time that you marry a man what his habits are around the house and if so, and if you still marry him, and if his habits are unsatisfactory, what the hell do you have to bitch about?

Now mind you, I am the last one around to ever dust or voluntarily clean something that doesn't look dirty. But I vacuum, I cook a lot, I empty both the dishwasher and buy Saran Wrap, in fact, I tend to buy way more Saran Wrap than necessary because I never think to buy more than one at a time while someone else in the house is better at thinking ahead.

And wow, what a stretch to think that if I emptied the dishwasher more without being asked, I'd get laid more. You have to be freaking kidding me!!! If you're not getting sex, it's because of something else. Sex just doesn't go away, it goes away for a reason and I have a very hard time believing it goes away because I don't empty the dishwasher enough.

60 million women suffer from this "disease"?!?! How many women are there in the United States? If only 60 million of them feel "Hurried", I'll donate a kidney to science. Cottle really seems to hit the nail on the head for the entire article until she starts mouthing off about how lazy men are. Once again, didn't you figure this out when you started dating? It's not hard, look at his apartment. If you knew he was lazy and was a crappy cleaner and you're withholding sex because of it, shame on you. You got yourself into your own mess. . .

NASA Picks Teacher for Shuttle Mission. This is pretty cool, I still remember the day after Challenger blew up, I was in 7th grade English class with Mr. Johnson and he asked us what happened the previous day that was important.  It's one of those events that you remember exactly where you were when you heard about it, like JFK being shot for my parents generation or Pearl Harbor for my grandparents generation.

The Challenger was one for me and I suppose that 9/11 will be one for the current generation.  It's neat to see the extension of that fateful trip. . .no Gilligan's Island reference intended.

It's funny how when life is going your way, the ball always bounces in your direction.  Things start to roll along, everything is working out, and life is good.

Then when things start to go bad, it's not like it's just one or two things, it's always everything.  And you can't get a break and everything just starts to close in around you.  Hmmmm this is sounding pretty self-pitying pathetic.  Ah well, just an observation. . .
