State set for insurance battle As a hopeful soon-to-be homeowner, I have a vested interest in this. . .insurance rates for homes in Texas have risen as much as 200 percent in the past 12 months. . .scary. . .I don't have any idea how this could be fixed short of regulation, I don't buy the "free-market fixes everything" routine that some people are talking about. . .Farmer's Insurance tried to stop writing policies in Texas this year, I'm sure they make plenty of money in other states to pull that off. . .interesting stuff. . . 4:13:37 PM permalink What do you think? Parcell's hired by Jones Can this really be true? How could two of the biggest egomaniacs in professional sports possibly co-exist on the same team together? I have no idea what to think about this little occurence. "Parcells will have a strong say in personnel decisions". Hmmmm how strong of a say can you have with Jones as Director of Football Operations and GM? This is going to make for some really funny moments in the next few years. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in the 'Boys WarRoom at the next draft. . .I think that what this really has to do with is the need Jones has to be able to continue to effectively market a team that was once the most prestigious in the land but that has had three consecutive 5-11 seasons. . .those season tickets have to be harder and harder to sell. And how will Parcell's put up with visits to the sidelines, not having control completely of personnel decisions, having an egomaniac as a boss? Not to mention that Parcells doesn't have his assistant staff that he had back when he turned the Giants, Jets and Patriots around.
The Cowboys don't have the talent to be a next year success so they are going to have to build. . .that means we all get to laugh for at least 2 years. . .I'm putting the over/under on months Parcells is on the job at 30 beginning January 1st. . .any takers? |

On a completely unrelated note, XBOX is a curse, a curse I brought upon myself by asking for one for Christmas. . .I've currently put a limit on how much I can play it because if I don't, I think it's going to get ugly. . .Halo is like crack but slightly cheaper and more addictive. . .I think if my carpal tunnel didn't kick in, I'd play it until I was done, all in one setting. . .I can't wait until I start dreaming about it. . . 3:54:31 PM permalink What do you think? Ok so I'm still struggling with the identity of this site. . .if it's going to be a true weblog, it seems like it has to have news links but then I wonder about what kind of interesting site, short of Instapundit and the like, consistently link to other news stories that have already been written. . .but if you aren't linking, two things happen: 1) people start to delink you and 2) you're just running an online journal which while sometimes interesting, really isn't that useful for people. . .of course if you run a weblog or online journal that no one reads, what does that make you? I guess in my search for identity, I would just as soon keep linking to other sites and pointing out news articles that I find interesting. . .which is good because I love reading my own stuff. . . 3:52:14 PM permalink What do you think?
