Kate is right, this shouldn't be about gun control but inevitably, it will be. . .someone will argue that if this moron didn't have a gun, he couldn't have done what he did. . .but if I took my car out and ran it into a schoolbus, people wouldn't say we ought to have more car control. . . Basically, it comes down to the fact that gun violence sticks in our minds, it has not only a recency effect but a power effect as well. . .gun violence is sensational. . .so it seems like a bigger problem than it is. . .things that are sensational tend to stick in the human psyche and thus, irrationally effect our judgement. . .it's a common psychological issue. . . what this is really about is a complete lunatic deciding that it's ok to kill people. . .it's someone who can't control the violent urges within him. . .I believe this has gone on for the length of human history. . .it just so happens we have better instruments to carry out an act like this now. . .but that doesn't mean we should throw away the instrument. . . |

So this is the last big weekend for running. . .I'm actually nervous about Sunday's run, 20 miles, because my long run this week wasn't so hot. . .mostly that's due to the fact that I smoked on vacation but I'm still nervous. . .20 miles is a long fucking way to run. . .plus 5 tomorrow at race pace. . .I anticipate it's going to take me just over 3 hours to do 20 miles. . .but physically I feel strong which helps. . .after this week, I have two more weeks of taper time and then it's the big race. . . 11:09:42 PM  What do you think?
