An interesting article. I wonder how much the Senators are selling for? I got $20.

Tales of Life with an Accordian...
This from The Phil. A tail of intrigue, despair, deceit, and romance. A truly good read for your head.

What happened to me and the new girl (or, "The girl who cried Webmaster")
At least a couple of readers of this blog guessed that something was wrong when the "Ten Cool Things About the New Girl" blog entry from last week got yanked. They were right, but they probably had no idea how wrong things went. I'm going to tell the story -- with names changed and a few non-essential details omitted. I'm trying to balance telling my story with protecting people's privacy. Hopefully, I've succeeded.

Then I'm going to take a week-long holiday from this blog. I'm annoyed and exhausted, I have a considerable load of work to take care of, and after you've read what appears below, you'll probably agree that I've earned it.

It's called Freedom...
Secret blacklists in Pennsylvania. So this story continues to amaze me. Pennsylvania has a law that gives the Pennsylvania Attorney General the power to order an ISP serving Pennsylvania citizens (read: any ISP anywhere) to block a site which the Pennsylvania Attorney General says serves child porn. There is no judicial review of the order, and as no ISP is likely to resist the order, the law results in unreviewed censorship of internet content. According to this report, the AG is now refusing to even reveal the list of sites his secret orders have blocked. There are hard cases in the law of cyberspace, no doubt. But this should be a slamdunk easy case -- if anyone would have the courage to challenge it. CDT is exploring a challenge. Good for them. If the First Amendment means anything, it must mean that the government can't order the censoring of a publication without any judicial review at all. You might want to tell the Pennsylvania AG what you think. Here's a form. [Lessig Blog]

Personally I'm hoping someone has the courage to stand up for what's right and challenge the law.

Blogshares...
more on devaluation of blogshares.... Phil read my post about Sugar's price per share plummeting and sent me an email, mentioning the following section from the BlogShares Manual
4.4 Prices
A blog's share price fluctuates over time due to the following reasons:
  1. Shares are bought (pushes the price up)
  2. Shares are sold (pushes the price down)
  3. The blog is seriously overvalued (> 7.5 P/E) (pushes the price down to where it's P/E is 1.0)
  4. The blog is seriously undervalued (< 0.5 P/E) (pushes the price up to where it's P/E is 1.0)

Sugar mentioned something this morning that Phil had noticed, too.  The bot picked up 8 incoming links when it had previously picked up 18.  That raised her P/E to over 7.5 which caused the drastic drop in value.  Oh, well.  I believe in ya, Sugar, and even bought more shares (at a very good price, thank you).  It's lookin' up from here... Plagarism?...

Noted War Blogger Cops to Copying. Sean-Paul Kelley, the man behind the immensely popular Iraq war blog The Agonist, admits he posted information from a highly regarded commercial intelligence company on his site without sourcing it -- and in some cases credited it to unnamed sources. Whoa! What an interesting turn of events.
